Quando ero molto giovane non avevo il coraggio di smettere la lettura di un libro che non mi piaceva. Lo consideravo una rinuncia, una specie di sconfitta costringendomi a leggere fino all’ultima riga. Ho impiegato molto tempo a liberarmi da questo complesso scoprendo poi che in molti casi il libro aveva avuto una cattiva critica. Lo stesso mi è accaduto con i concerti: ho ascoltato fino alla fine esecuzioni che mi parevano scadenti fino a scoprire che in realtà era una tortura cui potevo sottrarmi. E’ il caso del concerto in questione: viene chiamato “trio” ma in realtà è risultato un concerto di pianoforte con l’accompagnamento flebile di due archi molto spesso da intuire più che da potere ascoltare. Come aggravante una eccessiva “esuberanza” della pianista. Il problema è che l’acustica della sala Biagi (come ho inutilmente segnalato più volte) richiede una attenta valutazione da parte degli strumentisti per permettere un corretto amalgama dei suoni evitando la sovraesposizione del pianoforte che dovrebbe suonare con il coperchio semiaperto e riducendo il suo volume. Come è accaduto nel bellissimo concerto della violoncellista Hoffman. Un vero peccato perché il programma era molto interessante e probabilmente il trio Chimera è una formazione di valore quando esegue in una sala dall’ottima acustica ma nel concerto in questione il risultato è stato pessimo. In ottemperanza alla mia consuetudine ho abbandonato la sala dopo il trio di Haydn e quindi la valutazione della performance non può che essere del tutto negativa.
PS Anche in un pubblico rarefatto non sono mancati i soliti maleducati che durante l’esecuzione accendono il cellulare. Segnalo inoltre che nelle ultime file non si sente quanto pronunciato sul palcoscenico per motivi di acustica. E’ quindi necesario utilizzare un microfono.

PS Un “blogger” non è un oracolo e commette inevitabilmente errori (il minimo possibile..). Ricevo spesso “correzioni” non sempre fondamentali e non sempre precise. Così come io mi sottopongo al giudizio altrui con nome e cognome così chi vorrà avere la bontà di segnalarmi eventuali errori o imprecisioni dovrà farlo unicamente mandando un commento: a ognuno la propria responsabilità. In base alla nuova normativa chi si fosse iscritto e desidera de-iscriversi è sufficiente che mi invii un messaggio e-mail..

When I was very young, I never had the courage to stop reading a book once I had started it. I regarded doing so as a surrender, a kind of defeat, and therefore forced myself to read untl the last line. It took me a long time to free myself from this obsession, eventually discovering that in many cases the book had in fact received poor reviews. The same thing happened to me with concerts. I sat through performances that struck me as mediocre until the very end, only to realize later that they were, in fact, a form of torture from which I was perfectly free to escape. This was precisely the case with the concert in question. It was presented as a “trio,” but in reality it turned out to be a piano recital with the faint accompaniment of two string instruments whose presence often had to be inferred rather than actually heard. To make matters worse, there was the pianist’s excessive exuberance. The problem is that the acoustics of the Sala Biagi, as I have repeatedly and unsuccessfully pointed out, require performers to assess the balance of sound with great care in order to achieve a proper blend and avoid the piano dominating the texture. The instrument should be played with the lid half-open and with a more restrained dynamic level. This was exactly the approach taken in the wonderful concert by cellist Hoffman. It is a real pity, because the program was highly interesting and the Chimera Trio is probably an ensemble of considerable merit when performing in a hall with excellent acoustics. In the concert under review, however, the result was disastrous. In keeping with my usual practice, I left the hall after the Haydn Trio; consequently, my assessment of the performance can only be entirely negative.
P.S. Even among a small audience, the usual discourteous concertgoers were present: those who switch on their mobile phones during the performance. I should also note that from the last rows it is impossible to hear what is spoken from the stage because of the hall’s acoustics. The use of a microphone would be absolutely necessary.

PS A “blogger” is not an oracle and inevitably makes errors (the minimum possible..). I often receive “corrections” not always fundamental and not always accurate. Just as I submit myself to the judgement of others with the name and surname so those who want to have the goodness to report errors or inaccuracies will have to do so only by sending a comment: everyone has his own responsibility.
