PS Un “blogger” non è un oracolo e commette inevitabilmente errori (il minimo possibile..). Ricevo spesso “correzioni” non sempre fondamentali e non sempre precise. Così come io mi sottopongo al giudizio altrui con nome e cognome così chi vorrà avere la bontà di segnalarmi eventuali errori o imprecisioni dovrà farlo unicamente mandando un commento: a ognuno la propria responsabilità. In base alla nuova normativa chi si fosse iscritto e desidera de-iscriversi è sufficiente che mi invii un messaggio e-mail..

Many wines do not age by improving and the same happens for many pianists who, initially very promising, do not keep their promises during the course of their career. This is absolutely not the case with Volodos, who was initially appreciated for his exceptional technique, but over the years has developed an interpretative sensitivity that today places him at the top of world pianism. In Volodos, as rarely happens, the great technique is constantly subjected to interpretation: it has not disappeared but has simply become the launch pad for interpretation. The concert in question, dedicated to Schubert, with Lisztian transcriptions of two of his most famous Lieder, was of the highest level with a Schubert rendered in his most intimate spirit without flaws in total respect of his deepest meaning. An intimate Schubert, sometimes even diaphanous, in which the most hidden nuances were explored without ever going too far in one direction or the other. It is now very rare to hear Schubertian pieces rendered so completely in their spirit with a simplicity that never descends into mannerism but digs deep. There are no possible flaws to point out. If anything – but it’s just a question of taste – some pauses seemed too long but this is just an aspect of sensitivity. And very appreciable was the inclusion in the middle of the concert of the two Lisztian transcriptions performed without interruption starting from the Moments Musicaux, as if to underline a sort of Lieder extension of the piano compositions. Great empathy with the audience to whom three encores were dedicated at the end of a very successful concert.
